All Grown up

So for about a month now Lucas has been really funny about his feedings. He will NOT eat unless he can feed himself, therefore he's been making lots and lots of messes. Half the time most of his food is either on his lap or in his hair. He has gotten really good with a spoon though, he only has to learn not to twist the spoon before it reaches his mouth.

He looks so cute when he can actually get the food in his mouth. He is such a big boy !!

The other thing he's been doing lately is talking on his "cell phone", he walks around pacing talking really loud, it's amazing how impressionable he is at this time. The other day he had two phones, one on each ear.

Bye Bye Bathroom !!!

So Wed. was a very sad, frustrating and semi-excited day. So the big event was the ripping up of the bathroom. Yeah I know this has nothing to do with Lucas, but I thought I'd share it with you all anyways.

It really all started on Sun. Chris Adam came over and helped Peter with the demolition process. He tore the closet and the sink apart. Oh they also took the water heater out and put it in the basement. I know what you're all thinking "Where are they going to put there toilet paper now?" well I think we'll manage.

So that was Sunday. Monday and Tues. were days of bucket baths, but hey at least we still had a tub right? Not so much on Wed. that went out the window along with the floors and my walk in closet in the living room. So right now we really don't have a bathroom, so if you come to visit and we don't smell to good you know why. :) JK, it's nice having your in-laws live so close, we went their to shower, they also offered to let us live their for a while til this project is done, so I guess we'll think about it.

This is what used to be the walk-in-closet, I don't know if you can tell but there is a 14 in. drop where the floor used to be. Everything is pretty much gone, what you see at the bottom is the bare floor that the house is built on.

So this is where everything that was in the closet ended. It really looked like the closet threw-up in the living room, stuff was and sort of still is everywhere. I really don't know how some ppl actually live like this, it is driving me crazy.

Here's our beautiful tub :) It sure won't help us now. I can't wait to get a new one .

Ok I had to put in a picture of Lucas in this. Here are my boys looking cute as ever.

Last but not least, our toilet. Doesn't it make you want to use it? So this said when you think you have it bad, just look at our bathroom, smile and thank God that you can at least take a hot shower.

Puppy Love

I can't believe how blessed we are to have such a lovable, happy, easy going baby. Here are the Dozer and Lucas having a grand old time "playing" together. Dozer is so good with Lucas, he's such a gentle dog, here Lucas is basically suffocating him and he's not even minding it one bit.

Growing up

So our little Lukie is growing up. As of yesterday Feb. 15th he really started walking, and I don't mean take a step or two on his own (which he's been doing for about one month now) no I mean walk. We went to Blue rocks campgound for Abby Woods third birthday, that's were he found his new found freedom. He was walking all over the place and loving it. It's great to see the fun that he has with it.

Here's our little walker, struting his stuff in the kitchen tonight. I tried getting him on video a couple of time, but every time I got my camera out he'd go down on his butt.

It does break my heart a bit that he will not depend on my finger anymore to get around, but I guess we all have to grow up at some point right.

Dare Devil

So here are a couple of pictures of our little Dare Devil son Lucas.

Here he is kneeling on his little toy drum, at one piont he fell into it and was sitting inside it.

Here he is crawling over his other toys to try and get into his toybox. Once he was in he could get himself out so Mommy had to help him out.

What you don't see in this picture is the radiator that Lucas is standing on while trying to get into my planter. And that you see there is one of his diapers, he was taking them out of his bag and putting them in the planter.

Birthday Pictures

So here's a picture of the Hoffman family minus G-pa of course, but hopefully soon we'll have him with us.

Lucas really enjoyed his cake, at first he didn't quite what to do, but after a while he got the hang of it and made his mess.

He sure loved being the life of the Party.

Here we are trying to blow his candle out, he would have much rather put his finger in the flame.

Birthday Party

So yesterday was Lucas' first birthday, YAY!!!! He was so excited, OK maybe not really, he had no idea what was going on, but I'm sure he had lots of fun.

Well the day started out with going to church, where Lucas took a 15 min nap, by the way that was the only nap he took all day. After church we came home to got ready to go to the Campground, we tried putting him down for another nap, but it didn't work out.

Well the party went great, Lucas really did have fun and he loved making a mess with his birthday cake. He didn't get cranky all night, it was amazing. I don't have to many pictures yet, because Joy was my official photographer, so she'll get them to me later, at which time I'll post more pictures.

Here's Lucas in his favorite gift. Mom and Dad Hoffman gave him this wagon, it's their traditional first b-day gift, he really loves it.

This picture is really cute. Chris was giving the kids rides around the pavilion, they were having lots of fun, especially Lucas.
So I'll post more pictures later.

Birthday Cake

So tomorrow is Lucas' first birthday, can you believe it? I sure can't. So anyways we are planning on having a semi big party for him, I figured if we were going to do this we were going to do it right. So we have about 60 ppl coming so far, so it's a bit big. A lot of ppl are helping me with food and Jed said we can use the pavilion at Blue Rocks Campground, so it shouldn't be to bad.

So the main reason for the blog today it, my friends and I just got done with the birthday cake. Yeah you heard me "I" made it, with the help of April and Jen of course. It turned out really cute, I'm proud of our work. Thank you Jen and April you two are great!! Oh yeah Lucas wanted to help also, well he mostly liked getting rid of the excess batter for me, he sure liked that. So now for the rest of the day I have to finish making food, go grocery shopping for last minute things I need, and Peter and I are going to go decorate the pavillion, so wish me luck. Anyways I guess I better get to work now.

Praise God, He is good!!

So last night at around 9:15pm Laureen called Peter and I to let us know that Carl had called her to tell her that they found a heart for him. WOW!!! Right? So yeah that is where Peter, Laureen, Mindy, Scott, Pastor John and I were till about 2:00pm today. Peter and I got to Jefferson hospital at around 12 midnight. At that time we got to see Carl till around 2:30am at which time they rolled him away to get prepped for Surgery. He didn't actually go into surgery till about 6:30am, before that they were checking the new heart to make sure it was usable, and Praise God it was. So needless to say it was a really long night for all of us. We tried to "sleep", but the floor in the waiting room of a busy hospital is anything but relaxing, we probably got 2hrs of sleep all night. The surgery went great though, and at around 11:30 am everyone got to go in and see Carl. He's not awake at this moment, but it was nice to see that he is doing great (I have to confess I didn't go in, I knew I would cry). For the full unabridged story of the wonderful news you can go to Carl's website. So it was great news last night, but we are not out of the woods yet. There is still risk of infection, rejection and other things, so we ask that you continue to pray.

On another not so happy note, about 2 min. after we heard about the heart Peter saw he had a voicemail from his doctor. Peter had been feeling bad for about one week, so finally he went to the doctor on Mon. at which time he was sent for blood test, x-rays, and all sorts of other things. So back to the point, Peter got this voicemail, his doctor called to let him know he has Mononucleosis and Hepatitis, due to the mono. Yeah, so he's really not feeling well, and I have to take care of him :) He has had mono before which is weird that he has it again, because they say that once you get it once you're not suppose to get it again, but I guess he's weird:) So anyways if you can pray with us for thatas wellit would be great, pray that Peter heals soon, and that Lucas and I don't get sick too. Well have a great night.

G-pa Hoffman

So today Peter, Lucas and I drove to Philly to visit G-pa Hoffman at the hospital. For those of you who do not know, G-pa Carl Hoffman is in the hospital at Jefferson in Philly. On October 15, 2007, he was taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital because he was very weak and having trouble breathing. After many tests it was determined that he was in multi-organ failure due to the weakness of his heart, which was only working at about 10% capacity. That was almost 3 months ago, right now he is feeling much better, but he now waiting to get a new heart.

So anyways as I was saying we all went to visit today, we usually do go every Sunday. It makes for a long day, but it's still really nice to get to visit him and he really enjoys having visitors, especially Lucas :) This picture isn't from today, but I think it's really cute because they both have their John Deere caps. This was Carl in Nov. he was still pretty rough then, but feeling better every day.

This picture was taken in Dec. you can see the big difference in Carl, here he's out of his hospital gown, and into his own Jeans and T-shirt so I'm sure that makes him feel 100% better. For more information on how Carl is doing you can visit his web page at: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/carlhoffman

This is a site dedicated solely to him, my sister-in-law Mindy is the one that usually keeps it updated, it's pretty cool so check it out.

So today we stayed for about 3 hours, really all there is to do there is sit and talk, which G-pa appreciated a lot. Usually we go out to the waiting room because it's bigger and carpeted, that way Lucas can crawl around and not get so rowdy. G-pa got to hold him for a bit while he drank his bottle. Thena all the boys went for a walk, while I stayed back and read :) So anyways that's really the only intersting thing that happened today, see you all next time.

New Year, New Life

So my brother Daniel has been bugging me to make a web site, so I figured starting 2008 I'd start one, I hope I can keep it updated. I'm not as good as Laura and Katie with my words so you might get bored once in a while, so for that I'm sorry. Really the real reason for this Blog is so that my parents and relatives in Mexico can see how big Lucas is getting, it really has nothing to do with Peter and I, it's pretty much all about Lucas.

Januray 2nd 2008, wow can you believe it? Well I find it hard to believe I've been here in the USA for 7 years now, and what 7 years they have been. I Love it!!

So for New years eve Peter, Lucas and I went to Chris and Jenn's house for our annual new years eve get together. At about 10pm we headed out to go to Blue Rocks for the rest of the night. Can you believe that Lucas stayed up the whole night to watch the ball drop? He is quite the little party animal.

Well that is all I have for now, I have to go make dinner also. So I'll try again tomorrow, and I hope that you guys enjoy.
